Analogue - Signal 48 I remember getting the cyberflesh conspiracy compilation CD in the early 90s with the creeping eruption song harbinger of death Which I love to this day,so glad to finally hear more songs from the early day's Favorite track: The Killing Season.

tkiehne Maybe it was the 505 clap, or maybe it was the video they did for the track, but Burn was my introduction to Creeping Eruption and always made me think of Cabaret Voltaire Favorite track: Burn.

about

Before there was Fiction 8, there was Creeping Eruption. Creeping Eruption began in the dorms at CSU in Fort Collins in 1988. We were influenced by Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Tear Garden, Cabaret Voltaire, Click Click, and Leaether Strip. If it was dark and electronic, we wanted to know about it. We struggled to name the project as we accumulated material over the next couple of years. Somewhere during this time, we settled on the name "Creeping Eruption".

Over the course of 1990, we recorded the tracks that make up this album. Several tracks were recorded "studio-live" with no additional overdubs. They were recorded to cassette 4-track, were then mixed to 2-track, and then bounced back to 4-track so the songs could be sequenced with no gaps.

For me, a big part of the reason for the name change from Creeping Eruption to Fiction 8 was all of the misunderstanding that the former created. People who saw the name without any context thought we were a death metal band. The name was also prone to mispronunciation. We were once introduced on stage as "Creeping Erection", which soon after devolved to "Creaming Erection". It was funny, but it was time for a change.

I'm still surprised how often people ask for digital copies of our first few releases. At the time, we didn't think anyone was listening.
